Mommy's Monday Memory

August 2009

One of the last major projects in staging the house was turning Justin's room back to beige to match the rest of the house.  I painted his room by myself while 7 months pregnant.  It took 3 days and stunk up the entire house.  We brought our little boy home to his room and it took only 1 day to turn it back beige.  Ryan and I splurged on the low VOC paint and it worked very well.  Many wonderful memories took place in that room.  Watching him sleep like an angel, rolling over, standing up, playing hide and go seek.  We'll miss that color blue!

stressing

With the upcoming sale of our home...yes, we're moving and must sell our home, I've been stressing over decluttering and cleaning for weeks now.  It took months to interview several realtors until we found one we thought could sell our home the best.  It took months to complete repairs on the house and yard.  My daughter's room is not longer pink and tomorrow my son's room will no longer be blue.  We're getting stuff out of the house and buying things to stage the house.  Needless to say, keeping this house clean will be a challenge with two little toddlers running around the house but not as horrible as I thought since most of our stuff is out of the house.  Everything will have its own place.

Today, after all this stress (and Ryan can verify), I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Most of the major projects are done, its just the little things to finish up.  But I see the end in sight.  Once I find a routine for getting the kids and home ready for a showing, I think I'll start really relaxing.  I have my knitting projects ready to go and movies on the DVR.

I completely understand how my friend Robin felt getting her family ready to move to Egypt.  They could only stay a few months before evacuating but enjoyed every minute of it, something I'm sure all the headaches made well worth it.

So I'll leave you with a cute photo of the kids.  They always brighten my day.

happy birthday

Tomorrow I turn 27! Yikes! I can officially say I'm in my late twenty's, early part of the late-twenty's or later part of my mid-twenty's.  Either way, I'm super excited.  A wonderful woman who is fast becoming a great friend...no, wait, she's already a great friend!, wanted to celebrate my birthday along with another wonderful woman who's birthday was the 11th.  So, yesterday, Ryan came home so I could go sans kids to lunch.  It was so nice to celebrate with the ladies.  Thanks Traci!!!

Thanks Traci!
P.S. Then I went to Victoria's Secret and got my first post-baby bra.  It was a great day!!

snow day

first snow angel

After the weather cleared up a bit and the temp warmed up a few degrees, Olivia desperately wanted to go outside.  Luckily, we had her snow gear from Christmas and so she and I ventured out.  She LOVED running around the yard, and sliding down the snow pile at the end of the driveway.

Such a 180* reaction from Christmas, when she did not even want to make a snow angel.  But to give her credit, the snow at Nana and Papa's house was over her knees and she couldn't walk. I even had trouble walking which I am sure she took as a big problem and freaked out about walking herself, really do not blame her.  This time the snow was the perfect depth so she felt confident about getting "stuck."

I promise to post pictures of Justin in the snow, as soon as we get him snow boots.  Oklahoma does not even sell snow shovels and what they consider winter boots will not make the cut for MN winters.

Olivia, despite rosy cheeks, did not want to come inside and would have played until she couldn't feel her toes if we let her.  Her giggles filled the air as she bound from one snow drift to another.  She kept talking about Dora and her friends, making up stories about playing with them while scooping up snow in her tiny sand shovel.  It was a great day!

winter wonderland

Last night we had power and heat! Yipee!! Once again the Oklahoma weather has delivered a winter storm that comes in as a close second to last years ice storm, which ironically hit on the last weekend in January as well.  After struggling with the decision to fly north or ride out the storm, we chose to stay and are glad.  The heat is working and we get to hang out with Daddy all day since the base is closed.  We have about 2 inches of snow in the yard but the drifts are about a foot or so.  Winds are whipping around the house like crazy but the snowflakes are getting bigger.  Funny thing is, the Super Bowl won't be canceled because its supposed to warm up into the 50s by the end of the week.  Nice!!
